Can I take part with a digital camera?
Yes indeed. PhotoMarathon Sofia is a fully digital event - you can use your camera and as of 2020 also or your mobile phone.
Can I use my film camera?
Unfortunately not, only digital.
Can I use my phone camera?
Yes - for the first time this year we accept photographers with mobile phones.
Do I need to bring my own memory card?
Yes, you need to bring your own memory card. It needs to be completely empty at the beginning of the PhotoMarathon, and our team will check this before you start. We will accept standard SD cards. If yours isn't a standard size please bring a USB cable for us to download your images at the end of the day.
Can I use multiple cameras?
No, we accept one camera or phone only. Feel free to use different lenses, filters etc.
Can I use built in-camera filters?
Yes you can.
Can I enter with a friend or in a group?
Absolutely! This is an opportunity for photographers to work together, as it often helps to get the creative inspiration flowing. If you’re working in a team you need to submit one photo.
Where is the event taking place?
We’re taking over the wonderful Kino Kabana at the park in front of NDK.
How will you collect the images?
At the end of the PhotoMarathon, you’ll need to return to Kino Kabana where we will download your images to our computers. You will keep your memory card.
What format should the images be in?
All images will need to be shot as JPEG files. RAW files will not be accepted.
Will the topics be announced online?
Not until after the event.
Who owns the copyright of the images taken?
The copyright of the images taken remains of the photographer. In entering the competition the entrant grants to PhotoMarathon the right to use the images in all media for promotion of the PhotoMarathon. PhotoMarathon nor the author cannot (and will not) pass on, sub-license or sell any images to any third party without your permission. The images may be used in an exhibition.
Who can participate?
Everyone over the age of 18 can join. For participants under 18 there will be a special photo workshop, which will be held on July 17 and you can read more information at fotofabrika.org.
How is the winner determined?
The jury (that will be announced soon) choose the first, second and third place.
Where will the photos be shown?
All images will be published on the Facebook page of FotoFabrika.
FotoFabrika is not responsible for the published images. Each author is obliged to have the consent of the photographed persons. In the event of a dispute over the photos, they will be removed.
What are the prizes?
1st prize: Voucher provided by Photo Pavilion
2nd prize: Lowepro backpack
